Laos Nov 1-5, 2007
Our first view of Laos was when our bus stopped for lunch. Pickled lizards in a jar!
A Catholic Church built by the French. Another notch in the Vatican's belt.
Eating street food is the cheapest way to get by when traveling.
Another notch in Tesco's belt.
An old American warplane that crash landed in Laos and was left to rot.
We rented bikes for the day to get around Savannakhet.
We cycled around to a temple and met some friend monks.
And here they are! Okay only one of them was a monk, the others are two randoms who wanted to be in the picture.
Shadows can speak a thousand words.
Vientiane, the capital of Laos and our last stop on our whirlwind tour.
Sunset on the Mekong is a good place to relax and keep an eye on Thailand.
Michelle and Fyl.
Rental bikes again! Michelle poses in front of Laos' version of the Arc de Triumph.
View from the top.
We met a monk named Somphone and exchanged emails. He invited us to dinner at his mom's (on an island somewhere in the jungle) if we ever visit Southern Laos.
Michelle wasn't allowed to get this close to Somphone. It's a monk thing.
Pha That Luang, the symbol of Laos.
Relics of The Buddha are said to be contained here. I copied that statement from Wikipedia.
It's Michelle and the Golden Stupa.
Monks going about their business.
That Dam, another large stupa in Laos. And the last of our pictures.
